MY TRACK OF THE DAY: glory

NOTE: this is not the Beyonce baby!!
If you haven't given into the birth of Blue Ivy Carter (the Jay-Z/Beyonce baby) or ranted among friends about strange baby names, then you should consider giving into "glory": the song Jay-Z wrote for his daughter. May I add that it is certified baby-approved rap (yes, that means no dirty references or F#!* words). Check it:

"Baby I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you..."

LYRIC DIVE: most kingz

I first heard this Jay-Z rap in Coldplay's Lost+ (off their Prospekt's March EP). These are some good lyrics! If you're feeling downcast, beaten, or forsaken, just listen to this song. It may motivate you to get up and get that dirt off your shoulders. Check 'em out:

"MOST KINGZ"  -  JAY-Z

With the same sword they knight you they gon' goodnight you with,
Shit! that's only half if they like you;
That ain't even half what they might do,
Don't believe me ask Michael.
See Martin, see Malcom,
See Biggy, see Pac,
See success and its outcome;
See Jesus, see Judus,
see Ceasar, see Brutus,
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide!
If you succeed prepared to be crucified.
Media meddles, niggas sue you, you settle;
Every step you take they remind you you ghetto.
So it's tough being Bobby Brown,
To Bobby then, you have to be Bobby now,
And the question is,
"Is to have had and lost, better than not having at all?"

No matter where you go, you are what you are player. And you can try to change but that's just the top layer.

Decoded

After seeing a stack of books on the table my father says "it's the summer, you have no school, and you are going to read?!?" And I respond "yeah!" The truth is books keep me entertained as much as music does. First on the list is the very much talked about book by Jay-Z called Decoded. The book and its 297+ pages are intimidating, but a picky 10 year old with a keen eye for picture-books wouldn't be disappointed. There are pictures galore. And words too. This should be interesting.
